Greetings, Muskogee Tea Party friends!

This note is to let you know about our next event! The 2012 election cycle is now upon us, and it is important for Tea Party activists to be effective citizen activists. That’s why we are partnering with American Majority Oklahoma in conducting an Activist Training on Tuesday, April 24th.

Our nation was founded by ordinary citizen activists desiring a government that was accountable to the people. Today, ordinary citizens across our nation are tired of the status quo and ready to engage for the betterment of their communities. American Majority’s political training addresses these passions by providing education and resources to help you meet your goals.

American Majority Oklahoma is pleased to announce an Activist Training will be conducted on Tuesday, April 24th, in Muskogee, OK, to provide citizens with the tools necessary to become effective activists.

The political training will take place in the Southeast Meeting Room of the Muskogee Public Library located at 801 W Okmulgee St in Muskogee from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm. Registration opens at 6:00 pm. The cost is $15 and space is limited. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged.

Topics to be covered during the Training include:
*Community Organizers for Freedom: Finding New Leaders, Increasing Transparency, and Finding the Votes
*Instant Activism: Everything You Need to Know to Get Involved at the Local Level

Full training materials, samples and supplements will be provided to help you apply what you learn to your organization, candidate, cause or community. Dinner will be provided.

If you have any questions or would like additional information, call Seth Brown at 405.639.8896 or e-mail Seth@AmericanMajority.org.

I can’t recommend the American Majority training sessions enough. They have great training tools and information to transform you into an effective citizen activist. Please make plans to attend this event.

If you are interested in financially supporting the Muskogee Tea Party PAC, membership dues are $50 per person. In 2010, in the span of just a few months, we were able to raise well over $1,000, and spent $500 on electioneering activities (directly to candidates and running ads supporting candidates). We currently have a good sum in the bank, but we need to keep growing it! That’s where our memberships come into play. For $50, you can become an official voting member of our Political Action Committee (PAC), and contribute to our election “warchest”. As important as the 2010 election was, 2012 will be even more so. Find out more on how to become a member at this link. Also at that link, you can print of a form to send in with your check, or you can donate online.

With you for the future of our country,

Chairman, Muskogee Tea Party PAC

CNN and the Tea Party Express, along with the Muskogee Tea Party and more than 100 other tea party groups from every state across the country, will team up this Monday (September 12) to host the first Tea Party presidential debate, to be held in Tampa, Florida. Eight Republican presidential candidates will be present for the debate. Questions for the candidates have been given by Tea Party members all over the nation, and will also be taken from select remote-viewing parties being held by co-sponsoring Tea Party groups.

This will be a historic evening, and the Muskogee Tea Party is proud to be a co-sponsor of the debate. The debate will air live on CNN starting at 7:00pm Central Standard Time. It will also be live-streamed on CNN.com/TeaPartyDebate.

Candidates participating will be Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (MN), businessman Herman Cain (GA), former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (GA), former Gov. Jon Huntsman (UT), Congressman Ron Paul (TX), Gov. Rick Perry (TX), former Gov. Mitt Romney (MA) and former Sen. Rick Santorum (PA).

The Muskogee Tea Party will be hosting a special debate watch party, on Monday evening starting at 6:30pm at Buffalo Wild Wings in Muskogee (1130 W. Shawnee). The public is encouraged to attend, have some great food, watch the debate, and interact with fellow Tea Party conservatives.

The Muskogee Tea Party’s organizer, Jamison Faught, and member Steven Proctor will be representing the group in the live audience in Tampa, Florida.

On next Monday night (September 12th), CNN and the Tea Party Express will be hosting the very first Tea Party presidential debate, in Tampa, Florida. The debate is being co-sponsored by over 100 Tea Party groups — including the Muskogee Tea Party (the only group from Oklahoma doing so)!

The Muskogee Tea Party will be holding a special debate watch party, on Monday, September 12th, starting at 6:30pm at Buffalo Wild Wings in Muskogee (1130 W. Shawnee). The debate starts at 7:00pm CST. Please come out and join us!

Two of our members (Jamison Faught and Steve Proctor) will be in the live debate audience in Florida. This event will be a great opportunity to view the Republican candidates, and see which of them line up closest to the ideals of the Tea Party.

We need as accurate a head count as possible in order for Buffalo Wild Wings to set aside a large enough portion of their restaurant. More details will be coming in the next few days.

As a reminder, pursuant to a vote by our group last year, the membership dues for 2011 are $50 per person. Last fall, in the span of just a few months, we were able to raise well over $1,000, and spent $500 on electioneering activities (either directly to candidates, or running ads on behalf of candidates). Currently, we have about $1500 in the bank – a good sum, but we need to keep growing it! That’s where our memberships come into play. As important as the 2010 election was, 2012 will be even more so. Find out more on how to become a member at this link. Also at that link, you can print of a form to send in with your check, or you can donate online. We will be holding an important members meeting in the near future, so you need to get your dues in before in order to vote at the meeting.

Again, if you are planning on attending our debate watch party, please reply to this email so we can give Buffalo Wild Wings an accurate headcount.

Muskogee Tea Party patriots,

It’s been a long time since I’ve updated you; time certainly can fly by! I needed to inform you about several different items (some more urgent than others) regarding our group.

1. Tax Day Tea Party?
Some people think that the Tea Party should move on from the “old” public rally type of event, and more to an education (i.e. educating ourselves and the public on more in-depth issues, such as fiscal policies constitutional studies, historical perspectives on government, documents that shaped political movements and beliefs, etc) and “intervention” stage (i.e. direct lobbying of elected officials through phone calls, in-person lobbying, stuff of that nature). I’ve been busy with work lately, and have failed to make plans for an actual Tea Party event on the 15th; however, we still can do something on the 15th if our members want to. So, I’m asking for your input – do we want to do a Tax Day Tea Party rally again this April 15th, like we have for the past two years? I do have an event planned for later in the month, which leads me to….

2. Muskogee County Republicans & Conservatives Club inaugural meeting
We’re co-hosting (with the Muskogee GOP) the first Republicans & Conservatives Club meeting in Muskogee County on April 21st, in Muskogee. This club used to be catered specifically to Republicans, but is now being opened to conservatives, regardless of party affiliation. I encourage you to consider attending, to show support for the conservative cause that the Tea Party and many Republicans hold dear. The meeting will start at 7:00pm on Thursday, the 21st, and will be held at the offices of the Muskogee County Farm Bureau (28 E. Shawnee Rd, Muskogee; map), located in the shopping area that holds K-Mart and I’m A Basket Case. More information will be coming about the scheduled speakers. That leads me to another event on April 21st…

3. April 21st ‘Flash Mob of Kindness’
Prompted by something Glenn Beck mentioned on his TV show, Suzie Buck (one of our members) has decided to head up a Flash Mob of Kindness event on Thursday, April 21st. The general idea is to set aside politics, and deliver food to people in need, such as at the unemployment office, homeless shelters, etcetera. Just hand them some groceries or canned goods, say a quick prayer with them or ‘God bless you’, and leave. If you are interested in participating, please email Suzie Buck at bucksuzie@yahoo.com.

4. 2011 Memberships
Pursuant to a vote by our group last year, the membership dues for 2011 are $50 per person. Last fall, in the span of just a few months, we were able to raise well over $1,000, and spent $500 on electioneering activities (either directly to candidates, or running ads on behalf of candidates). Currently, we have about $1200 in the bank – a good sum, but we need to keep growing it! That’s where our memberships come into play. For $50, you can become an official voting member of our Political Action Committee (PAC), and contribute to our “warchest” for 2012. As important as the 2010 election was, 2012 will be even more so. Find out more on how to become a member at this link. Also at that link, you can print of a form to send in with your check, or you can donate online.

5. HUGE announcement coming soon!
I’ll conclude this email with a tease — sometime soon, we will be making a VERY BIG announcement regarding the Muskogee Tea Party and the 2012 presidential race, and how our group will be playing a role that will literally have a nation-wide effect! Stay tuned for more information!

With you for the future of our Constitutional republic,

Muskogee Tea Party PAC Announces 2010 Endorsements

MUSKOGEE — With 21 days left until voters go to the polls, the Muskogee Tea Party PAC announced on Monday their endorsements for the 2010 general election. Members of the group voted to support five candidates for U.S. Senate, one candidate for U.S. House, one for Governor, and to support a No vote on a State Question.

For candidates outside of Oklahoma, the Muskogee Tea Party PAC has endorsed the following U.S. Senate hopefuls: Joe Miller of Alaska, Dr. Rand Paul of Kentucky, Sharron Angle of Nevada, and Ron Johnson of Wisconsin.

Joe Miller is a U.S. Army veteran (West Point graduate) who served as an Alaska and U.S. Magistrate Judge. He holds a law degree from Yale, and a master’s degree in economics from the University of Alaska. Unlike many in Washington D.C., Joe understands that the federal government must return to following principles such as limited government, free markets, and adherence to the Constitution. Joe will be a champion for reforming Congress, balancing the budget, stopping runaway government spending, and protecting our Constitutional rights. Miller is running against Democrat Scott McAdams, and write-in candidate Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski (whom Miller defeated in the Republican primary).

Dr. Rand Paul is an ophthalmologist with a long history of giving back to his community, and of fighting for Constitutional principles. He is completely opposed to bailouts, and is a strong proponent of the free market. Rand will fight for a Balanced Budget Amendment, and for Term Limits. As a physician, he is opposed to abortion and euthanasia. Rand Paul will be a defender of the Constitution, and will do his best to hold the federal government within it’s Constitutional limits. Dr. Paul is running against Democrat Jack Conway.

Sharron Angle is a former teacher who served in the Nevada State Assembly for eight years, where she fought for smaller government and lower taxes. She has proven to be a fighter, even against overwhelming odds. Sharron challenged, using her personal funds, the constitutionality of a huge tax hike in Nevada, which resulted in the tax increase being overturned. She is deeply pro-life, and recognizes the traditional family as the foundation of American society. Sharron is committed to upholding the Constitution, preserving our liberties, and will stop the spending madness in Washington. Angle is running against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D).

Ron Johnson is a prime example of the American Dream. Ron worked his way from washing dishes at a diner all the way to becoming CEO of his own company. He understands the free market system, and that government does not create jobs. He is against bailouts and the irresponsible government spending spree that has now put the national debt over $13 trillion. Ron believes that the free market is the solution to fixing our health care system, and will fight to keep the government within the bounds the Constitution placed it in. Johnson is running against Democrat Sen. Russ Feingold.

Within the state of Oklahoma, the Muskogee Tea Party PAC endorsed Dr. Tom Coburn for U.S. Senate, Charles Thompson for U.S. House (District 2), Mary Fallin for Governor, and a NO vote on State Question 744.

Dr. Tom Coburn has been perhaps the strongest and most effective advocate for stopping runaway government spending. Dr. Coburn stood up against his own party when they were spending billions, and he continues to stand up today to fight for fiscal sanity as budget deficits eclipse records. As a doctor, he knows that ObamaCare is dangerous, and he wrote a bill that would use the free market to reform health care, instead of having the government take it over. Tom is one of the few members of Congress who truly cares about, and seeks to defend, the Constitution; he is also a leading proponent of Term Limits. Dr. Coburn is a true statesman/citizen legislator, who has kept up his medical practice while serving in Congress, even though it has cost him thousands upon thousands of dollars to do so. Tom Coburn will continue to be a stalwart defender and advocate for Constitutionally limited, and fiscally responsible, government. Dr. Coburn is running against Demcrat Jim Rogers, and two independents.

Charles Thompson served in the U.S. Army for over 20 years, and retired as a Major. He operated a veterinarian practice for several years, and has experience working in the private sector. As a veteran, Charles is a vocal defender of the right to keep and bear arms, and of securing our borders. He knows that government-run health care will only serve to diminish the quality of care, and force small businesses out of business due to higher taxes and more regulation. Charles will fight for free market principles, lower taxation, traditional values, adherence to the Constitution, and will provide vigorous representation in Congress for eastern Oklahoma. Thompson is running against Democrat Congressman Dan Boren.

Mary Fallin has served Oklahoma in many capacities in the past twenty years, most recently as Congresswoman. She has proven to be a reliable conservative, dedicated to serving our state. Mary has the right positions on the issues facing Oklahoma, particularly when it comes to traditional values, gun rights, lawsuit and workers compensation reform, and lower taxes. In turbulent times like these, Oklahoma needs a true conservative at the helm – and Mary Fallin will be such a leader. Fallin is running against Democrat Jari Askins.

Vote NO on State Question 744, a dangerous measure that was placed on the ballot by the teacher unions and is garnering support from out of state special interests like the NEA. There is a reason why nearly every Republican and Democrat public official is opposed to SQ744 – because SQ744 has the potential to turn Oklahoma’s budget and economy into a wreck that makes California look good. SQ744 compares apples to oranges, and puts the control of the state budget into the hands of other states by forcing Oklahoma to spend the floating “regional average” on K-12 education. However, SQ744 also mandates that Oklahoma can never spend any less on education that was spent the year before; in addition, if any of the six states surrounding Oklahoma increase their education spending, Oklahoma has to as well. This means that the education budget will always be ballooning at the cost of major cuts (up to 20%) to every other agency, hefty tax increases (up to 30% or more), or a combination of the two. SQ744 does not provide a funding mechanism – it merely says Oklahoma has to spend more money. If SQ744 had been in effect this year, Oklahoma would have had to spend another $1,000,000,000 at a time that we already were a billion dollars short of budget. The Muskogee Tea Party and other opponents of SQ744 are not against education by any stretch of the imagination – but SQ744 is the wrong way to go about reforming Oklahoma education. It is vital that State Question 744 be defeated this election.

The Muskogee Tea Party is a non-partisan grassroots group of everyday Oklahomans who are concerned about the direction the country is moving in, and who disapprove of out-of-control government spending, excessive taxation, and lack of adherence to the Constitution. To learn more about the Muskogee Tea Party, visit www.MuskogeeTeaParty.com, or call (918) 869-6000.
