WHAT: Voter Education Rally, hosted by the Muskogee Tea Party
The Muskogee Tea Party is hosting a free, non-partisan Voter Education Rally, featuring candidates for U.S. Senate, the 2nd Congressional District, and statewide offices. This event is designed to educate the public about who will be on the ballot for the July 27th primary election, and the November 2nd general election.
All candidates for the aforementioned offices who attend will be given two minutes to speak, in addition to setting up a campaign booth. As of 7pm Tuesday, 28 candidates have confirmed that they will personally be attending, and 3 campaigns are sending representatives. Highlights include all three candidates for Attorney General, all three candidates for Labor Commissioner (including incumbent Commissioner Lloyd Fields), all three candidates for State Auditor (including incumbent Auditor Steve Burrage), as well as at least one candidate from each of the 11 featured races.
In addition, attendees will be able to participate in a straw poll, and sign a petition expressing support for repeal of the Obama healthcare plan recently passed by Congress. Organizers are expecting between 400 and 500 people from all across eastern Oklahoma to attend this event.
